Aids in Expense Money to Send G. A. R. Men East.
The G. A. R. Fife and Drum corps of California, consisting entirely of veterans of the Civil War, is preparing to start next Monday to the national convention, which convenes in Boston, providing the necessary funds can be raised to defray the expenses. So far $900 has been raised out of the $1400 required.
A. M. Thornburg of 756 Crocker street, the corresponding secretary of the corps, has received a check for $50 from Thomas R. Bard, to be applied to the fund.
